They work in a dynamic environment, constantly aware of safety while supporting, observing, interacting, provoking, and responding. Their key role is to develop strong relationships and to notice, recognise, reflect and respond, while maintaining health and safety.
Most kaiako are trained (or in training to be) registered teachers, we strive for all obtain and maintain a full first aid certificate.
In 2010 we sent two teachers to the U.K to train as Forest School Leaders, since then we have spent 12 years studying, practising, refining and developing nature programmes appropriate to Aotearoa/New Zealand.
